In this article we will discuss:

A Brief Introduction

I am Anshika Paliwal and I am 16 right now. I go to Genesis Global School in Noida.

What was your chosen mode for SAT prep?

I chose online mode for my SAT preparation, however I kept myself consistent with the SAT prep on a weekly basis.

How was your experience with Jamboree?

My experience with Jamboree was nice and there were regular SAT online classes that kept me in check. I was consistent with my SAT prep throughout. By consistency I mean that one has to practice for the SAT and keep learning about the SAT. I must say that the SAT online platform was extremely helpful and organised and it helped me stay in sync for the entire month that I was studying SAT online.

How was your experience with SAT Faculty at Jamboree?

The SAT instructors at Jamboree are the best, especially the math faculty for SAT. With maths, I was really at ease as each and every concept was taught and explained well. I struggled a lot with Maths and I was prone to making silly mistakes, but I practiced a lot of questions in every class because of which I could keep a track of my mistakes and tried not to repeat them. Practicing SAT questions in every SAT prep class enhanced my focus on my weak areas and kept me focused in a way that I knew what I had to practice more. Geometry and Trigonometry were my weakest subjects. Along with practice, I also watched videos on these topics to make my conceptual understanding better.

What was your favourite part about SAT preparation at Jamboree?

I would like to mention that the online SAT portal was my favourite part about the entire SAT online course. The platform is extremely well organised as I could easily figure out the verbal and the math sections. SAT mock tests were very clearly defined on the platform. I used the platform throughout my SAT preparation journey to practice mock tests, however I even used it much towards the end of my SAT prep when my SAT online classes were almost over.

I practiced a lot of SAT verbal and mock tests including the verbal drills as this all collectively strengthened my SAT preparation. There were varied questions to practice including vocabulary and other specific ones like craft and structure. So, for verbal I used the platform and relied on that a lot. We used to practice mock tests while we were on the call and we used to get feedback on the platform itself. This was very helpful as when I would take the test at home then there was no accountability, but doing it within the online SAT sessions proved helpful especially for math. I used to start slow with math and then I would have no time at the end for module two. In my first take of the SAT, I got 700 in math, but later I started practicing SAT mock tests in the timed environment and that really helped me.

How were you feeling on the day of the test?

I was very nervous on the actual test day and I was kind of under pressure because this was my second attempt at the SAT. In my first SAT attempt I scored 1450 and the reason for this score was because I failed to have conceptual understanding and had a lot of anxiety and pressure. However, in my second attempt, I was confident that I knew how to do it and I got this confidence by attempting SAT mock tests in a realistic, timed environment on Jamboree’s online SAT portal. So, I faced the test calmly this time because I was well prepared. I didn’t do any practice on the morning of the test day and just took the test in a relaxed way.

Tips/advice for future SAT test takers

As far as advice to the fellow SAT test takers is concerned, I would say that don’t be anxious and do your preparation well. Once you are fully prepared for the SAT, just give it a shot without thinking about anything else. Another piece of advice that I would like to give is practice. Practice as many SAT questions and mock tests as you can as practice really matters a lot. As per my experience, practice is the major difference between my first and this SAT attempt. This time I practiced a lot and also worked on my weak areas. You must keep asking questions in your online SAT classes and it is important to know your weak areas so that you can work on them.

Anshika’s final thoughts

I am really happy with my perfect score of 1600 and I would like to say this to all future test takers that while you are doing your SAT prep don’t take much stress and just focus on your SAT exam preparation. Go with a relaxed mind and give it your best shot.
